Japanese-American Service Committee – ‘Then They Came For Me’
Grants awarded to the Japanese-American Service Committee in 2011 and 2013 allowed them to assess, catalog, and digitize their collection. That collection documents the Japanese-American experience, especially of those citizens who came to Chicago after being released from forced incarceration during World War II.
Because those materials were made accessible to the public, they were able to be curated and used in the ‘Then They Came For Me’ photo exhibition at the Alphawood Gallery in 2017. The exhibition is now touring nationally.
Those assets also contributed to the documentary film “Then They Came For Us”, a preview of which is below.
