Theatre Y is a Chicago-based international incubator that fosters collaboration and mutual growth among diverse artists. Known for its experimental productions and challenging international content, Theatre Y stands apart with its member-based free theater model. Rooted in a predominantly Black community, Theatre Y’s work serves as an unapologetic form of reparations—investing in repair and self-empowerment through art. From the very beginning, the theater has been a space where activism and difficult conversations converge.
