Jackalope Theatre Company works to expand the definition of American Identity by engaging with the community to produce works that celebrate diverse perspectives.Â
Jackalope prides itself on being a hub for creativity, championing new work from both emerging and established Chicago playwrights through productions, the Playwrights Lab, workshops, and development programs. (They also offer a scholarship slot for the Playwrights Lab!) Jackalope also serves the Edgewater community as an Arts Partner in Residence in collaboration with the Chicago Parks District.
One of the highlights of the Jackalope calendar is the annual Living Newspaper Festival—where civic engagement meets artistic expression. For 14 years, this event has brought the community together through thought-provoking, news-inspired short plays.
